More than a decade after the liberation of Kuwait, visionaries see new opportunities in Kuwait’s neighbor to the north, Iraq. In fact, KGL has been operating in Iraq since the 1960s. During the Iraqi invasion in 1990, all of KGL’s assets in Kuwait and Iraq were either confiscated or destroyed. Shortly after Kuwait’s liberation and KGL’s rebuilding process began, KGL started servicing the coalition forces in Kuwait (USA, British, Japanese, United Nations and Dutch forces, etc).

KGL’s capability of adapting to crisis situations became apparent once again in 2003 when Iraq was liberated. During the Iraq liberation, KGL moved with the coalition forces into Iraq
and provided them with the logistics requirements, and they continue to do so.

Because of this solid relationship with the coalition and being present on the ground in Iraq, it became necessary for us to renew communication with the Iraqi Central Government and the Iraqi people. Today, we have strong business relations with both the Iraqi government and the people of Iraq in many of its provinces. KGL has even invested its own money in Iraq, which is one of our strategies to reestablish communication and relations with Iraq since they were broken in 1990. Our vast experience and track record has enabled us to invite several international investors and businessmen to share our experience in Iraq, and to expand business with local Iraqis throughout the provinces. Successful concepts and models used by many countries will be implemented in Iraq, and will result in creating jobs for Iraqis and strengthening the country’s economic infrastructure.
Despite the past success, many challenges remain and we are approaching a new phase in our involvement in the rebuilding of Iraq. What renders Iraq First Unique is the fact that the Iraqi Entrepreneur will be entirely involved in the formation and establishment of the enterprise while being strongly supported by the Provincial authorities, especially since they are more aware of what their province and citizens needs, with the development of the community and the country as their primary priority, with all parties provided with the same relevant information. Iraq First upon its establishment will be monitoring and assuring the successful execution of all enterprises to ensure smooth operations. “Iraq First” and its members will make sure that all the parties are involved dedicated to developing businesses and creating job opportunities in Iraq. Ras Al-Khaimah has been chosen because today it is one of the greatest examples of a young enveloping entrepreneurship entity guided by the business oriented vision and leadership of His Highness Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Ras Al-Khaimah.
“Iraq First” will be organizing and implementing follow up conventions biannually and annually to make sure that all enterprises follow the framework accordingly and develop more for Iraq, Iraqi entrepreneurs and Iraqi citizens.
